In the beginning….

Adam Hardy, a deputy head teacher of a Catholic Primary School in Birmingham spent  a year developing a school prayer book to mark the Great Jubilee of 2000.

The work involved developing design criteria for printers, collating and compiling the prayers, selecting the illustrations and finally formatting the book.  The process resulted in a 100 page pocket size school prayer book, produced using top quality materials in school colours and personalised with the school crest.

The prayer book proved to be extremely popular with pupils and parents alike and quickly became part of everyday school life, used in Masses, assemblies and sacramental preparation. Many parents and parishioners purchased copies in order to support the development of the prayer life of their children at home as well as in school.

The Birth of School Prayer Books Limited

Following the interest shown in the Great Jubilee 2000 publication, a group of Catholic parents concluded that the idea of “sharing prayer everywhere” was something that could be achieved through the publication and use of the book in schools and homes across the country. The vision was that every child would have their own personal copy of a comprehensive prayer book, with their school crest and name, and that prayer would be shared throughout the schools.  School Prayer Books Limited was born.

Adam now continues to spend his time and efforts fulfilling his vocation as a teacher and meeting the hectic demands of life in a Catholic Primary School as a Deputy Headteacher and RE co-ordinator,  as well as a devoted father and family man.
